Terry retired from teaching some 20 years ago, and volunteered for the Museum for a couple of years before consolidating a long-time involvement in amateur archaeology by completing an MA at Exeter University. He subsequently chaired the North Devon Archaeological Society for ten years, conducted a major excavation on a Bronze Age settlement near Parracombe and worked until recently as a freelance researcher mainly for South West Archaeology at South Molton. To the Trust he brings a dedication to promoting an appreciation of the history of Barnstaple and North Devon and a conviction of the importance of the Museum in preserving our local heritage.

Steve Pitcher BA, Dip TP was born in Surrey in 1949 and has lived and worked in North Devon since 1973. He is a retired senior local government manager and a retired member of Royal Town Planning Institute, Chartered Institution of Highways & Transportation, and Institution of Economic Development.
He is currently Chair of North Devon Coast AONB Partnership, Governor of Vivian Moon Foundation,
Trustee of Tarka Country Trust and Barnstaple Buildings Preservation Trust, He is a member of North Devon Archaeological Society, Barnstaple Pilot Gig Club, Devon Wildlife Trust and National Trust.
Stephen Dove is a Solicitor and Partner in the long established North Devon firm of Brewer Harding and Rowe. He has a keen interest in local history and wide experience of the charitable sector, having been Trustee and Chairman of a number of charities and voluntary organisations over the years.
Linda recently retired following a career in charities and local government. She was an field archaeologist for twenty years and managed a programme of excavations in the town centre of Barnstaple in the 1980’s and early 90’s. The finds from these sites comprise the bulk of the Museum’s Archaeology Collection. She also spent a short time seconded to work for the Museum. Before retirement Linda was manager of the North Devon Coast Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty Partnership. She is currently a Board Member of Exmoor National Park Authority, Chairman of Exmoor Historic Advisory Panel, Chairman of North Devon Archaeological Society and a project co-ordinator for the Exmoor Longstone Landscape project.
David Rowe is one of our band of loyal volunteers at the museum, our volunteers perform a variety of roles but David usually combines the twin roles of Tourist Information and front of house for the museums visitors. David’s role with the museums development trust is as our bid writer and adviser on funding bids. David is a retired Further Education lecturer and e-Learning Adviser with a wealth of experience of education based e-learning projects which brings with it experience of writing the funding bids which enable the projects to be delivered.
